A multi-dimensional practitioner framework for ensemble time feel, developed over 15 years across jazz, Latin, funk, and classical traditions.
- Four embodied categories: Pulse Unconscious → Pulse Aware → Pulse Dependent → Pulse Generator
- Four pocket dimensions: Time, volume, frequency, timbre
- Pedagogical model: Feel → Rhythm → Harmony (inverts the conventional teaching sequence)
- Genre-specific ensemble maps derived from transient analysis
No existing framework — academic, practitioner, or pedagogical — covers the same integrated ground.
Workshop: Band Dynamics Masterclass
“What Does Tight Actually Mean?” · 4-hour ensemble workshop · Three bands, three genres, live exercises
For ensembles who are technically proficient but not locking in. Three groups each play Swing, Latin, and Funk — discovering that “tight” sounds completely different in each one, but underneath: tightness is not precision, tightness is consensus.
Three transferable skills: Matching (hearing and aligning), Complementing (finding your space), Committing (backing the collective decision).
